The Project:

• A pump-up video shown to the team after the 2023 Hockey East Final, which they won both games in overtime, and prior to the 2023 NCAA Manchester Regional

My Notes:

• That season, I felt a really strong bond with both the coaches and players. We felt like a family. Therefore, I wanted to make a video that was both hype but also built off the drama from the weekend, as well as the bond we all felt.

• With that in mind, Under Pressure by Queen and David Bowie was a song that I’d used in videos when I was a child. It felt, to me, like the perfect song for that moment. Even better, I’d just watched the film Aftersun, where a modified version of this song delivered one of the best emotional gut punches I’d ever experienced in film. It had a perfect symmetry to Lane’s OT winner and the ensuing celebration.

• As in all of our team highlight videos, I had to include hits, saves, and blocks, so naturally there is a drop-off in high quality footage in those moments. I was lucky to get great footage from BU Athletics, however, so I feel that I did the best with what I had.
